We accept that you may not wish to ride in extreme weather conditons we reserve the right to transfer to Horsemanagement lessons.

You should allow a minimum of 15 minutes or so to be fitted with a safety hat if you do not have one of your own. Please note if you bring your own hat it must be to current BSi standards.

Your own hat will be checked for fit and standard, in the event that it is not fit for use a hat will be provided.

Please note that mounting and dismounting time is included within all lessons.

Safety hats can be provided by the centre and we do have a selection of body protectors.

Stretchy or easy fit jeans can be worn, jodphurs will give a better contact.

Wellie boots are ok to start but a short jodphur boot and chaps will give more feel as would a long leather or synthetic riding boot.

TRAINERS or SOFT SANDLES will not be permitted.

Horse riding is an outdoor activity and you are advised to layer up with plenty of warm clothes in the colder months and long sleeves should be worn at all times.

Jewellery must be kept to a minimum for safety purposes and no large objects should be kept in pockets in case of injury or loss.

Lockers are available for use during your lesson.

Whips can only be carried with the express permission of the allocated instructor and spurs can only be used for a Level 6# rider and over under supevision only.

Children under 7yrs are NOT permitted to carry a whip or wear spurs.

As a licensed riding centre you can be reassured that you are covered for all third party risk.

Horse riding is a recognised `risk` sport but at OBEC we take your safety extremely seriously which should reduce the risk of a fall.

However if you ride reqularly the likelyhood of a fall does increase due to the odds and if you wish you can insure yourself for personal accident with most insurers.

Strange thing is the better you get at this sport the higher the risk as you begin to jump and gallop etc. In most cases falls are likely to be minor and you get up and back on...

Our CI is a BHS Accredited APC Coach BHS SM and we have a number of mature competent instructors as well as up and coming competent trainees working toward their BHSPtt and Level 3 UKCC teaching qualifications.

Senior staff have them up to date first aid certification, many of them have DBS certificates and all Staff and Apprentices have their Child Protection Certificates.

We take our H&S responsibilities very seriously as the world of horses can change frequently, horses are large and can be unpredictable and you are advised to read all notices that are posted around the yard areas and in particular you are requested NOT to give stabled horses treats unless you are accompanied on the yard.

You are particulary asked NOT to allow young children to run around the stabling areas and not to stand around the rear end of any horse.

Smoking or Vaping is not permitted anywhere around the stabling areas and is only permitted in certain designated areas which are fully marked.

We hope that these notes answer your queries but do please ask if not.
